THE Road Transport Department (RTD) is taking enforcement action on seven major traffic offences which are non-compoundable, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah said these seven offences are queue-cutting, overtaking on a double line, beating the red light, driving over the speed limit, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, and abuse of emergency lanes.

“Also enforced is the ban on goods-carrying vehicles from using the roads on April 20 and 21, and on April 24 and 25. This is to reduce risks of accidents due to mixed traffic flow between heavy and light vehicles, and to avoid traffic crawls,” he said. – Bernama, April 18, 2023.
