NEGOTIATIONS between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for seats in six state elections are 80% complete, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said.
“We already have an understanding for 80% (of the seats) There is only 20% left that needs details,” he said in Kota Baru last night.
“We see no major problems in the negotiations; the atmosphere is quite positive.
“That’s all I can say for now.”
He said Umno sees the elections in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Penang, Terengganu and Kelantan as a litmus test of cooperation between BN and PH.
“The most important thing is that the government needs to be stable in (the management of the) economy and social development. Due to political bickering of more than four years, Malaysia is lagging behind the neighbouring countries.”
Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negei Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to dissolve their state assemblies in June to pave way for polls. – Bernama, April 12, 2023.
