SHARIAH Appeal Court judge Mohd Amran Mat Zain has been appointed Shariah Judiciary Department Malaysia director-general and shariah chief judge effective today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said Amran, who joined the civil service in 1994, has 29 years of experience in the shariah officer service scheme.
“Based on his vast experience and qualifications, the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) is confident that he will be able to take on the responsibility of continuing the department’s excellence,” he said in a statement today.
Amran started as a shariah officer at the Federal Territory Legal Aid Bureau and has served as a registrar at the Shariah Judiciary Department as well as a Putrajaya shariah subordinate court judge.
He holds a Master of Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia and a Bachelor of Shariah from Universiti Malaya. – Bernama, April 10, 2023.
