THE Selangor government is confident the state will be able to increase its contribution to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) to 30% by the end of 2025, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said.
He added that this will be driven by projects such as the integrated development region in south Selangor (Idriss) as well as the NCT smart industrial park (NCT).
“With the injection of projects like NCT and Idriss, we are confident that we can galvanise more economic activities,” he said in Sepang today.
He added that such major initiatives would boost the state’s economic growth and subsequently increase its contribution to the national GDP, which was 24.8% in 2021.
Amirudin said, despite the absence of major projects, Selangor’s contribution to Malaysia’s GDP had increased by between 0.2 and 0.5% a year since 2018. – Bernama, April 7, 2023.
