Penang civil service gets RM1,500 Raya bonus

IN conjunction with Hari Raya, civil servants in Penang will receive a minimum RM1,500 bonus for the festivities, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said. 

He said this was decided yesterday at the state government council meeting. 

“The state government agreed on a payment of 75% of the monthly salary or a minimum of RM1,500 for state civil service members,” he said in a statement. 

Chow said the bonus is also extended to employees of the local authorities and state statutory bodies.  

The money will be paid on April 17.

“In addition, BKK amounting to RM300 each was also distributed to the supervisors and teachers of the al-Quran and fardu ain classes.

“This includes, religious primary school teachers, secondary religious school teachers, school staff, tahfiz, Islamic pondok and for kindergarten teachers as well as teachers and staff of Chinese private schools in the state of Penang.”

He added the payments will cost the state government RM10.95 million. 

“This is a sign of the state government’s appreciation for all members of the state civil service for their unwavering contributions.” – April 6, 2023.
