THE Dewan Rakyat has unanimously elected Perikatan Nasional lawmaker Mas Ermieyati Samsudin as Public Accounts Committee chairman.

The Masjid Tanah lawmaker takes over from Pakatan Harapan’s Taiping lawmaker Wong Kah Woh as the head of the parliamentary committee for the purpose of auditing the revenue and the expenditure of the federal government and its agencies.

She will be assisted by Wong Shu Qi (Kluang-PH), who was also voted in as the new deputy chairman of the committee.

Apart from both, the committee will include six to 12 members from both sides of the divide.

A selection committee will nominate the members later. – April 4, 2023.
