THE Johor Health Department is likely to take disciplinary action against contract doctors in the state if they participate in a nationwide strike tomorrow.
Department director Dr Aman Rabu said disciplinary action will only be taken if contract doctors fail to heed the advice for them not to participate in the strike.
He said hospital directors in each district have been advised to ensure their officers are present to carry out their duties tomorrow.
“Our services are running as usual, that’s our guarantee. If it (the strike) happens, action will be taken against those who participate, as directed by the Health Ministry,” he said during a media conference after a Ramadan bazaar monitoring operation at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall today.
Also present was Johor Health and Unity Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon.
Aman said so far, the department has not received any information on whether there will be a strike among contract doctors in the state tomorrow.
Ling said the Johor government is ready to listen to complaints and issues faced by contract doctors in the state and convey their wishes to the Health Ministry, even if it isn’t in the state’s jurisdiction to do so. – Bernama, April 2, 2023.
