A CLOTHING store in Shah Alam was ordered shut by police after hundreds of shoppers thronged it for Hari Raya clothing bargains.

Shah Alam police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim today said the owner of the Section 7 store agreed to close as the management could not control the crowds.

He said police received a complaint about chaos at the store at about 10.30am.

“More than 500 people swarmed the store, which promoted RM1 ready-to-wear Muslim clothing. They were pushing, shoving and causing public disorder.

“Due to safety concerns, around 11.45am, the store agreed to cease operations because it could not contain the crowd,” he said in a statement today.

The shop drew attention for its early bird offer for its first 100 customers to purchase clothing at RM1.

A clip of the chaos posted on Twitter showed shoppers barging into the store as soon as it opened.
