AMONG the issues to be raised at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today is the government’s readiness to act on Transparency International Malaysia’s recommendation for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to be under the purview of parliament.

The Order Paper on the parliament website states Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Masjid Tanah-PN) will raise the matter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during Ministers’ Question Time.
During the oral answer session, Khairil Nizam Khirudin (Jerantut-PN) will ask Anwar about the government’s strategies and solutions to address the rising cost of performing the haj and umrah.
Also on the list is a question from Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor-PN) to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub about actions taken to boost competition in industries associated with cartels or monopolies, such as cement, chicken, eggs, and sugar.
Wong Shu Qi (Kluang-PH) is to ask Anwar about the amount spent on flood aid operations, financial assistance for victims, and other expenses during 2022 flood events.
After the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue with the debate and wind-up of the Supply Bill 2023 at the committee level. – Bernama, March 28, 2023.
