EIGHT train passengers have sued Rapid Rail and Prasarana for negligence over injuries sustained in a Kelana Jaya LRT crash, The Vibes reported today.

In a suit filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on March 9, they said they suffered physical injuries and losses as a result of the May 24, 2021 collision.

They said they were on board when the train collided with an empty on between the KLCC and Kampung Baru stations.

A total of 213 passengers were injured in the crash.

“The LRT accident, where all plaintiffs were present, was caused by the negligence of both defendants.

“The negligence of both defendants have resulted in physical injuries and other losses towards all plaintiffs,” said their statement of claim.

The plaintiffs said the two entities had failed to ensure the passengers were safe in their LRT trains.

They also referred to then Prasarana chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s inapproriate reaction to the incident in a press conference the next day.

“Tajuddin made jokes during the press conference by saying the trains ‘kissed each other’.

“At the same press conference, Tajuddin was also seen laughing on live telecasts.” – March 27, 2023.
