Dewan Rakyat to discuss targeted subsidies, prices of goods

TARGETED subsidies, prices of goods and food security are among matters to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The Order Paper stated Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin (Putrajaya-PN) will ask the finance minister on when targeted subsidies will be implemented and whether the government can guarantee the prices of goods will not increase as a result.

Pang Hok Liong (Labis-PH) will ask the agriculture and food security minister on the total value of imported food for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Pang also wants to know measures or efforts that have been or will be taken by the government to ensure the country’s food security and quality. 

V. Ganabatirau (Klang-PH) will ask the national unity minister on how the government can ensure fair treatment of all races and religions when there is a selective prosecution in cases involving insult on a race and religion.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota-PN) will ask the education minister on the status of new teacher recruitments last year, as well as the details of teacher recruitments according to subject options for 2016 to 2022 and the projected teacher recruitments from this year to 2027.

After the question and answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue with the debate and winding up of the Supply Bill 2023 at the committee level. – Bernama, March 27, 2023.
