Protect our young from bad influences online

I use TikTok (TT) for two reasons. Firstly, to create content relating to my goal in spreading awareness and sharing stories related to mental and public health, epidemiology, and social issues. Secondly, to research how toxic this platform is for children and youth and then make videos to remind society to protect them.

When I scroll through videos on TT for about 15 minutes, I come across adults broadcasting their talents in the most insensitive and perverted ways, foul-mouthed people who use this platform to humiliate others.

It shocks me that these videos get the most views, likes, and shares. What’s worse is that these content creators are celebrated and invited by our media stations for interviews.

There is no way to stop our children and teenagers from using the internet and social media because their education and social activities involve them.

We need to educate our young ones on all these online hazards so that they do not find out things the wrong way and engage in destructive activities. With these inappropriate videos circulating on the web, they get intrigued and confused by people greedy for fame.

I urge the government and relevant ministries to give importance to what I say here. We need to help our young by curbing their social media addiction and creating a safe online environment for them. – March 23, 2023.

  • Bad influence ate every where and it all starts from the family, friends, school and peers. Adults are influence in all the above environments including religion. What ever happened to all these front line of defence? Is our religious teachings failed or adult supervisions lacking? Let's go up here in this modern world of technology....bad influence ate everywhere and we need to start teaching our kids on their influences etc not blame these technologies. You drop your guard on these new development and get sucked into these influences, you have to find a way out, yourself. Any outside advice will not work as today people hate to be told....2nd they don't listen either! It's an individual call....I guess ones alone here and not blame others when you choose to rot!!!!
