DEFENCE Minister Mohamad Hasan today congratulated Gen Mohammad Ab Rahman on his appointment as chief of the army, with Gen Zamrose Mohd Zain due to retire in September.

“With his extensive experience and leadership, I am confident that Mohammad can lead the army to a higher level,” he said at the handover ceremony in Kuala Lumpur today.

Mohammad was also promoted to full general, commensurate with his new post.

Mohamad added that the army must always remain united and focused on carrying out its duties for the safety and well-being of the country, despite changes in leadership, because people pinned their hopes on armed forces that are strong and ever ready to maintain peace and order.

Meanwhile, Mohamad expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Zamrose, who will begin his leave tomorrow, before ending his service on September 21, after almost 43 years in the army.

“He is known for his firm attitude and prioritising his duties. He has brought the army to a high level, as a credible force that the people trust to preserve the sovereignty of the country,” Mohamad said. – Bernama, March 22, 2023.
