AT the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today, the case of Siti Nuramira Abdullah, the woman facing a charge of causing religious disharmony among Muslims, was postponed to tomorrow because she was too ill to attend.

Her lawyer, R. Sivaraj, told Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak with deputy public prosecutor Abdul Malik Ayob in attendance that Siti Nurmira was down with gastroenteritis.

“I was informed this morning that my client was admitted to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, which brought about fever, vomiting and stomach cramps.

“I was given Siti Nuramira’s sick leave certificate but I only have the digital copy,” he said, adding that the bailor would bring the original to court.

Nor Hasniah then postponed the hearing after submission of the original certificate.

On July 13, 2022, Siti Nuramira, 27, who claimed to be a Muslim and memorised 15 juzuk of the Quran, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing religious disharmony by undressing at the Crackhouse Comedy Club at Taman Tun Dr Ismail on June 4, 2022.

She was charged under section 298A(1)(a) of the penal code.

Siti Nuramira faces up to five years in prison if found guilty. – Bernama, March 21, 2023.
