PARTIES in the unity government will convene soon to determine a common direction and course of action in the administration of the country, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.
“The unity government secretariat will discuss with party leaders to set a suitable date for the convention,” the Pakatan Harapan chairman told a media conference last night in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, and Fadillah Yusof, who is Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip.
Meanwhile, Anwar congratulated Zahid and the Umno leadership on successfully wrapping up party elections on Saturday.
“This is a convincing success which will definitely strengthen the unity government,” he said.
Anwar said talks between the government parties on seat allocations for six state elections were progressing smoothly.
“Discussions are ongoing, they’re going well and we will finalise the matter very soon… we did not discuss it in detail (tonight), the unity government secretariat elections committee will continue to hold talks,” he said.
