THE flood situation in Johor is showing further improvement as the number of victims at temporary relief centres in the two affected districts of Batu Pahat and Segamat continued to drop as of 8am today.
The State Disaster Management Committee said 17,125 evacuees are still seeking shelter at 70 relief centres against 19,041 last night.
“Batu Pahat has 17,123 victims from 4,906 families while in Segamat, only two are remaining,“ it said.
Meanwhile, the Batu Pahat District Disaster Management Secretariat said the water level was receding in several areas in the district.
“We expect the situation to improve and more victims will be allowed to return to their homes due to the good weather,“ said the spokesman.
The weather in nine districts is forecast to be sunny this morning except for Kota Tinggi where rain is expected. There are no rivers at danger level. – Bernama, March 19, 2023.
