BUSINESS tycoon Syed Mokhtar Albukhary has urged everyone not to link him to any political parties or establishments.

“As a businessman who has for more than 40 years been in the world of business in Malaysia, I am against anyone associating me with any political parties or establishments,” he said in a brief statement.

This comes at a time when his name has been linked with money-laundering charges faced by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Out of the seven charges filed against the Bersatu president, two offences directly implicate Syed Mokhtar’s Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd for allegedly paying RM205 million to Bersatu’s coffers under the former prime minister’s instructions. 

Muhyiddin has claimed trial and is now on bail. – March 19, 2023.
