PAS and Bersatu should stop the unethical and irresponsible politics of exploiting lies to incite hatred and fear of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng said.

Lim said DAP fully supports the warning issued by the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim that there will be no tolerance towards any attempt to incite racial or religious sentiments in the country.

“Civil defamation or criminal action can be taken later, but the initial damage affecting national unity and jeopardising religious harmony from these lies would be difficult to undo or control.”

Lim said Yeoh has been repeatedly compelled to lodge police reports over the lies hurled against her by Bersatu and PAS leaders that have affected racial good will and undermined religious harmony.

“Kelantan PAS Youth chief Mohamad Kamal Mohamed lied that Yeoh had used her ministerial powers to deny Kelantan the right to organise the 2024 Malaysia Games (Sukma).

“The truth is that the Kelantan government agreed to organise the 2028 edition so it has more time to make preparations and construct sports facilities there.

“Yeoh was also accused of allowing a Christian evangelism programme that could also target Muslim youth, even though Yeoh stressed that no Muslims, only non-Muslim youth, were involved. Even PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan got into the act with all sorts of wild and baseless accusations against Yeoh,” he said.

This morning, Anwar warned his rivals of attempting to destabilise the government.

“You want to threaten us with assemblies, corruption probes… You have picked the wrong prime minister.

“I will not fall for such threats. You want to try and seize power? Go ahead, but it will not be easy,” he told 1,300 delegates at the PKR special congress. – March 18, 2023.
