TERENGGANU Human Development, Dakwah and Information Committee chairman Mohd Nor Hamzah said he will testify in the election petition trial for the Marang parliamentary constituency at the Kuala Terengganu High Court on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, he said his absence yesterday morning was due to his involvement in several state. He had also proposed to a Barisan Nasional (BN) lawyer on Wednesday for the hearing to take place in the evening.
“My personal assistant informed me the BN lawyer proposed that I attend at 10am on Thursday (yesterday) but I suggested evening as I had many programme commitments in the morning,” he said in Kuala Terengganu today.
The Terengganu Election Court yesterday issued a warrant of arrest for Nor for not showing up for the hearing.
Kuala Terengganu High Court judge Hassan Abdul Ghani issued the warrant after petitioner lawyer, Muhammad Amin Othman sought a warrant of arrest against the Bukit Payong assemblyman.
The hearing will resume on Sunday.
The Terengganu Election Court on February 12 rejected the initial objection by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to nullify the 15th general election result for the Marang parliamentary constituency, filed by the BN candidate. – Bernama, March 17, 2023.
