Govt extends deputy IGP’s contract to 2025

THE government has extended Deputy Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain’s contract until March 15, 2025, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today.

The minister added that the appointment was approved by the king on the advice of the prime minister and the recommendation of the Police Commission, in accordance with the Federal Constitution.

Razarudin, 60, was due for mandatory retirement yesterday.

“The government extends its best wishes and congratulations on this appointment,” Saifuddin said in a statement today.

Razarudin joined the police in 1984, and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in a variety of CID and administrative roles in Kedah, Johor and Sabah.

He was then transferred to Bukit Aman, serving mostly in CID and culminating in his appointment as deputy inspector-general of police in 2021. – Bernama, March 16, 2023.
