MCA president Wee Ka Siong has challenged businessman Deepak Jaikishan to lodge a report with the police over Wee’s allegation that Deepak had threatened him.
“If Deepak Jaikishan feels that someone impersonated him to call me, he should make a police report,” the Ayer Hitam MP said to reporters today.
Yesterday, Wee told the Dewan Rakyat that he had been threatened by an individual over his remarks in the house last month about the import of eggs from India.
He said he had received a call from a person called “Deepak”, who said he was from J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd, to retract his statements.
“When I checked with the Truecaller application, it shows that the number belongs to one Deepak J Tekwani,” he added.
Wee said his communication with Deepak was in the form of two calls: One lasting 33 minutes and the other seven minutes.
He said the man had threatened him in the name of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The PMO has said that it views claims of misrepresentation seriously and will not hesitate to initiate legal action against those involved.
Deepak has denied contacting Wee to demand that he retract his statements.
In a statement, Deepak said he did not have Wee’s phone number, adding that he would be consulting his lawyers on legal action over Wee’s claims. – March 16, 2023.
