Floods recede in Muar

MUAR has reportedly completely recovered from the floods, with the number of flood victims in Johor significantly dropping.

The state Disaster Management Committee said Muar saw the number of flood victims at temporary relief centres (TRCs) in three districts drop from 35,230 at 4pm to 33,245 at 8pm tonight.

The committee said as at 8pm, 107 TRCs remain open in Batu Pahat, Tangkak and Segamat.

“Batu Pahat has the highest number of flood victims, with 33,146 from 9,407 families, followed by Segamat with 75 victims (from 23 families), and Tangkak has 24 victims from three families,” said the committee in the statement.

The committee’s Batu Pahat branch when contacted by Bernama tonight said the flood situation is improving in several areas of the district.

“We are expecting more flood victims to be allowed to return home. Even the weather has improved,” said the Secretariat.

Good weather is forecast in all 10 of Johor’s districts tonight. – Bernama, March 15, 2023.
