THE Education Ministry (MOE) wants to implement a new syllabus for Form 6 from semester 1 of STPM 2026.
In a written reply published on the parliament website today, the MOE said it is revising the Form 6 syllabus to keep pace with current developments and meet the country’s needs.
It said it wants to ensure the syllabus aligns with the A-Levels syllabus managed by the United Kingdom’s Cambridge Assessment International Education, as STPM has been recognised as an equivalent to the A-Levels since 1982.
The MOE said the review is expected to be completed in 2025.
“A series of workshops and engagement sessions are being held,” it said in reply to a question from Zakri Hassan (Kangar-PN), who wanted to know when the government will change the Form 6 syllabus because it is not entirely relevant to current needs.
The MOE said the review will include goals, topics, teaching time for each topic, learning outcomes, and assessment scheme for each term.
It will consider comments and feedback from stakeholders, including Form 6 teachers, former STPM candidates, and lecturers via engagement sessions. – Bernama, March 15, 2023.
