THE Safe Sports Code will be signed between the Education Ministry and Youth and Sports Ministry next week to ensure safety in the industry, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She said the code will apply to all sports tournaments, including this year’s Malaysian Schools’ Sports Council (MSSC) tournament, which starts July 15.

“The code is to ensure a safe ecosystem for children to play sports, and a more binding space in the context of ensuring they are protected, including from sexual harassment, bullying, grooming and so on,” she told the media after launching the 2023 MSSC tournament calendar in Putrajaya today.

Fadhlina said the Safe Sports Code is based on the Olympic one, which includes ethics, protection, the roles of parents and the sports community, and access to lodge complaints regarding sexual harassment and bullying incidents. – Bernama, March 15, 2023.
