THE flood situation in Johor is improving and the number of flood victims seeking shelter at relief centres continues to drop tonight.
The State Disaster Management Committee said in a statement that the number of victims at 119 relief centres in the three districts affected by the disaster dropped to 37,503 as of 8pm from 38,456 this afternoon.
“The highest number of victims are in Batu Pahat at 37,114, followed by Muar (211), Segamat (154) and Tangkak (24),” it said.
The committee said water in two rivers in Batu Pahat has breached the danger level. The Bekok Dam in Sungai Bekok recorded a reading of 19.39m; Sungai Senggarang in Senggarang, 3.62m; and Sungai Muar in Bukit Kepong, 3.33m.
Earlier, Malacca and Pahang have fully recovered from the floods that hit them since the beginning of this month. β Bernama, March 14, 2023.
