PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim has denied he is being selective in his prosecution of politicians.

“I do not meddle and interfere with the investigations of the MACC or the AG,” he told the Dewan Rakyat during question time.
He said his orders to the two agencies were to take action if they have evidence of wrongdoing.
Anwar also asked the opposition MPs to show proof that he had meddled in the cases of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency or the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
He was responding to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (Pasir Mas-PN), who asked if the government will pursue the cases of the littoral combat ships (LCSs) for the navy.
Anwar said his directive to prosecute was across the aboard and not directed to any political party or politician.
“There was an Umno divisional head in Selangor who has been charged but the case was not publicised.”
On the LCS procurement scandal, Anwar said he had directed the MACC to investigate it more deeply even though Umno politicians were connected with the affair.
“Investigations must be continued because I feel that the previous actions did not do enough to uncover the primary figures behind the scandal.”
The prime minster said the MACC had informed him that it was in the “second phase of investigations”.
“I agree a more thorough investigation should be done. This is a huge scandal.
“Wastage (of public funds) have taken place. Action must be taken.” – March 15, 2023.
