PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) will capture Selangor and Negri Sembilan in the next state elections and is confident of retaining Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said. 

The Bersatu president said his party will also be the backbone of government administration in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, while PAS will remain in charge of the other three states, if the coalition succeeds in forming a government. 

“We have negotiated with PAS and other parties (in PN). As for Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, we will let PAS continue. We expect a clean sweep. 

“If we win in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, Bersatu will lead and appoint the menteri besar. Don’t ask who will it be, it has already been agreed. 

“In Penang, we will see who wins the most seats and becomes the chief minister,” said Muhyiddin during his closing address at the Bersatu annual general assembly in Kuala Lumpur today. 

Muhyiddin also said PN will push hard in its quest to take over Selangor. 

“It is quite absolute when it comes Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. Our focus is on Selangor. Based on rough calculations, we may be able to form a government in Selangor after the elections,” he said. 

In connection with that, Bersatu appointed vice-president Mohd Radzi Jidin as the election coordinator for the state. He will be assisted by PN information chief Mohamed Azmin Ali and Selangor Bersatu chief Abdul Rashid Asari. – March 12, 2023.
