BERSATU has unanimously rejected the resignation of party president Muhyiddin Yassin, said the party’s secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin.
In a statement, Hamzah said the decision was made as the Pagoh lawmaker was being charged as Bersatu president and not in his personal capacity.
“The supreme council unanimously rejected the resignation of Muhyiddin as president of the party.
“This is because we find that the charges against Muhyiddin were made against his office as Bersatu president rather than in his personal capacity.
“The leadership requests all members and supporters to be patient and calm as we face this big test against the president and Bersatu, which is slander and cruelty” said Hamzah.
The meeting was chaired by Muhyiddin ahead of Bersatu’s annual general meeting tomorrow.
Last Friday Muhyiddin was charged with four counts of abuse of power and two counts of money laundering amounting to RM232.5 million. – March 12, 2023.
