A TOTAL of 45,489 people were still sheltering from floods in relief centres across three states as of 8am today, almost all of which were in Johor.
In JOHOR, the headcount increased again to 44,937 this morning, compared to 43,667 recorded at 8pm yesterday.
The state disaster management committee (SDMC) in a statement said 172 relief centres in five districts were still open.
Batu Pahat was worst hit with 39,737 people fleeing rising waters, followed by Muar (2,785), Tangkak (1,662), Segamat (706) and Mersing (47).
Eight rivers still exceed the danger level, including Sungai Batu Pahat at the Bekok Dam (Batu Pahat) at 19.7m; Sungai Muar in Bukit Kepong (Muar) at 4.33m and Sungai Senggarang in Senggarang (Batu Pahat) at 3.53m.
In MALACCA, five relief centres in Jasin were still open this morning with 380 people taking shelter, down from 438 last night.
A total of 25 people were in SK Seri Mendapat, 122 in SK Parit Penghulu, 30 in SK Parit Gantong, 36 in SK Sungai Rambai and 167 in SK Batu Gajah.
In PAHANG, 172 people in Rompin were at two shelters: SK Kampung Aur (62) and SK Leban Chondong (110). β Bernama, March 11, 2023.
