PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the national tahfiz education policy (DPTN) 2.0 during the 23K huffaz (memorisers of the Quran) gathering at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, today.
Programme adviser Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the three-day programme that kicked off yesterday aimed at reviving DPTN, adding that the gathering will also be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
On January 30, Zahid said DPTN 2.0 was scheduled to be launched today, adding that through the policy the government wanted to create professional careers for huffaz, over and above working as imams and teachers.
Khairuddin said the launch was important to show that the huffaz and national education cannot be separated.
Launched in 2016, he said it was time to revitalise and expand the policy.
A total of 23,000 huffaz from all over the country are due to gather at the mosque today to recite the whole Quran 1,000 times before the launch, he added.
This fourth edition of the huffaz gathering is hosted by the Association of Tahfiz Al-Quran Kebangsaan Institutions in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office. – Bernama, March 11, 2023.
