BERSATU president Muhyiddin Yassin will likely be charged in court tomorrow, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed today.

He said the former prime minister is currently giving a statement to MACC investigators in Putrajaya.

“He will most likely to be charged tomorrow, not today,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Muhyiddin arrived at the MACC headquarters at 11.17am today over an ongoing probe.

MACC is currently investigating allegations that chosen contractors allegedly deposited RM300 million in Perikatan Nasional lynchpin party Bersatu’s account before the last general election.

Muhyiddin has denied this, adding that he is a victim of political slander by those intending to smear his reputation. He has also threatened to sue his accusers.

Prior to this two Bersatu leaders had been charged with graft.

Former Bersatu information chief and Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad were charged with corruption last week.

They are alleged to have collected funds from the awarding of projects during Muhyiddin’s tenure as the eighth prime minister.

It was also reported Muhyiddin has been barred from travelling overseas.

Free Malaysia Today, citing court documents, said Bersatu was challenging the travel ban. – March 9, 2023.
