A MAN who alleged that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had offered his boss, Bersatu member Wan Saiful Wan Jan, a RM10 million bribe was charged today with obstructing an investigation.
Mohamad Shafiq Abdul Halim, 32, had accused the MACC of trying to bribe Wan Saiful into implicating his party president, Muhyiddin Yassin, in a corruption case.
Shafiq, who is aide to former Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful, was charged with failing to comply with an order to appear on March 3 for questioning in connection with the affair.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
The charge was framed under section 48(c) of the MACC Act 2009. If convicted, Shafiq faces a fine of RM10,000 or jail of up to two year.
The judge set bail at RM10,000 and also ordered the accused to surrender his passport to the court
