PUTRAJAYA will channel RM50 million in immediate flood aid to Johor.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the allocation will be used to help flood victims and for other urgent needs.

“RM50 million for Johor immediately … for river (management), assisting flood victims and other urgent requirements,” he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Mosque in Serdang today.

Anwar said he will be in Johor to visit flood victims soon.

“Several ministers went (to Johor) today and another group will go tomorrow. I will arrange (to visit flood victims in Johor) shortly,” he said.

On the fifth day, the number of flood victims in Johor continued to rise, with 33,149 evacuees in 217 temporary relief centres (TRCs) as at 8am.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced RM10 million in aid would be channelled to the National Disaster Management Agency to obtain essential goods and additional supplies for flood-affected residents in the state.

When asked about PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement that the unity government will soon collapse, Anwar said: “It’s okay, that’s his right to plan and sleep-talk.”

The media previously reported that Hadi in a speech in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday said the Anwar-led government will fall soon. – Bernama, March 3, 2023.
