THE list of candidates contesting in Umno elections at the national level will be announced at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur tonight, party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said many had submitted their candidacy this time. 

“Tonight, for the first time, I will hold a ceremony to introduce the candidates contesting at the national level. 

“We know many are interested in contesting. Although the deputy president and I won’t be contesting, we will still be with the candidates in a display of unity,’’ he said.

Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister, told reporters this after visiting the flood relief centre at SJKC New Kota in Kota Tinggi today. 

Earlier, Zahid as the Central Disaster Management Committee chairman visited flooded areas in the district and the SK Datuk Usman Awang relief centre. 

Also present was Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi. 

Umno elections will run until March 18, along with polls for the Supreme Council and vice-president positions. – Bernama, March 2, 2023.
