SABAH Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor said today the state cabinet needs to study a proposed anti-party hopping enactment before tabling it in the assembly.

He did not set a date for the discussion but said the cabinet will decide when to table the enactment in the assembly.

“I will leave it to the cabinet to decide the date for tabling. Be patient, we will make an announcement when we have a state assembly sitting,’’ he told reporters in Kota Kinabalu today.

He earlier launched Gagasan Rakyat at the Kota Kinabalu International Convention Centre. Also present were Sabah Progressive Party president Yong Teck Lee, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku deputy president Robert Tawik and Sabah Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Yakub Khan.

Hajiji, who is Gagasan Rakyat president, rejected claims the state government is deliberately delaying the tabling of the enactment.

He said he is still supported by an inclusive and responsive team after the state went through a political crisis.

He said this enabled Sabah to achieve various successes, including increasing state revenue to almost RM7 billion (compared with RM4 billion when Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya was launched two years ago), and recording domestic investments of RM33.4 billion. – Bernama, March 2, 2023.
