MENU Rahmah, introduced by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry to provide meals at RM5 or below, is relevant and does not interfere with the business models of food operators, its minister Salahuddin Ayub said.

He said Menu Rahmah is not only helping restaurants survive, but provides added value to the businesses involved.

“Menu Rahmah remains relevant and we will not disrupt the business model of the eatery or restaurant, in fact we will help promote those businesses.

“We hope that more traders are interested in participating in the Menu Rahmah programme because traders’ participation in this programme is on voluntary basis, to help communities in need,” he said.

He told reporters this after launching Menu Rahmah at Pasir Tumboh in Kota Baru today.

Salahuddin said 1,142 food operators across the country are registered to offer Menu Rahmah at their premises, excluding fast food restaurants.

“The ministry will continue to promote the restaurants that made the Menu Rahmah a success.

“In Kelantan, there are 90 food operators participating in this programme and I am happy with the initiative these traders took, since they are not forced to participate in the programme,” he said.

On January 31, Salahuddin launched Menu Rahmah to lower the cost of living, especially for the low-income group. – Bernama, March 2, 2023.
