KAMIL Othman is the new chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas). He was previously the CEO of the agency.

Kamil was creative industry adviser to the Communications and Multimedia Ministry from January 2017 to August 2018 and Finas director from 2014 to 2016.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced the appointment on Facebook today.

“Congratulations to Datuk Kamil Othman on his appointment as the new Finas chairman,” Fahmi said.

“Next week I will arrange a meeting (with him) to discuss several matters, including the direction for Finas and the findings of the Auditor-General’s Report with a view toward improvement and rectification,” he said.

Kamil replaces Senator Zurainah Musa, whose service ended in December.

Fahmi said the Finas Compulsory Screening Scheme chairman will be appointed soon. – Bernama, February 24, 2023.
