THE investigation into the alleged misappropriation of zakat funds by the Negri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (Mains) Zakat Sdn Bhd will be sent to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office (DPP) by next week, police said today.

Negri Sembilan police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said officers are close to wrapping up the investigation for criminal breach of trust (CBT).

“I am not at liberty to disclose the number of individuals called to have their statements recorded,” he said today.

Previously, police had appealed to the public to relay any information relevant to the case.

On February 13, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed that the case was being reviewed following a Telegram post about allegations of council officials misappropriating zakat funds. – Bernama, February 20, 2023.
