A POLICE officer was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds behind Bayan Lepas police station near George Town today.

Southwest police chief Kamarul Rizal Jenal said police received a report about the discovery of the body of a male policeman at 3.30pm behind the police station.

“The policeman was found dead with gunshot wounds to the neck, chest and head, while attending officers also found a pistol with him,” he said in a statement tonight.

He said the policeman was attached to Bayan Lepas police station and the case was still under investigation.

He also advised the public not to speculate on the incident. – Bernama, February 19, 2023.
