NEGRI Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun does not expect any problems with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming state elections.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said BN should be gracious and defend the 16 seats it won previously.

He noted that there was no possibility of a conflict between the two governing coalitions because there were no Perikatan Nasional assemblymen to target.

PH controls 20 seats in the legislative house, while the remaining 16 belong to BN.

“It is simple in Negri Sembilan. We won 20 seats, and we must respect the mandate given.

“In my opinion, this will provide more confidence to the public, rather than if we’re seen fighting among ourselves,” he was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini following the Negri Sembilan DAP convention today.

Previously, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said DAP was only looking to defend its 11 seats in the assembly.

“We have 11 seats and that is our wish. We are not greedy. We are not asking for any more,” he told reporters after opening the convention.

Loke said DAP has held Chennah, Bahau, Nilai, Lobak, Temiang, Bukit Kepayang, Rahang, Mambau, Seremban Jaya, Lukut and Repah since 2013.

However, he said this was only the party’s position in Negri Sembilan and would not be drawn on what would happen if MCA wanted to stake its claim to seats.

“Why should we think and speak on behalf of MCA? Maybe, they will be kind enough and not ask for it.

“Our principal is to defend our seats. I cannot think or speak for other parties.” – February 19, 2023.
