PUTERI Umno vice-chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi will contest the position of wing head in the March 18 Umno polls. 

Nurul Amal said her decision was made of her own free will without pressure from anyone. 

“We celebrate democracy and I hope all candidates will do the same. What is important is that we defend the party constitution and the institution of the president because it is the axis of the party. 

“In this election, we see many people who still love the party. Of course, I, as a party member and vice-head of Puteri Umno, hope for the best so that the legacy of Puteri Umno improves,” she said when met after submitting her nomination form at the Umno Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur today. 

She said each candidate has her own strengths and it is up to the delegates to choose the most qualified person to lead Puteri Umno. 

She was the last candidate to submit her form today for the position of Puteri Umno head, which will see a six-cornered fight. Umno Supreme Council member Khaidirah Abu Zahar is set to contest the post as well. 

The annual meetings for Umno branches and election of committees, including for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings, will be held until February 26.

The polls for the party’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings will be held on March 11 while elections for Umno divisions and its Supreme Council will be held on March 18. – Bernama, February 19, 2023.
