FORMER health minister Khairy Jamaluddin started his new career as a presenter this morning at radio station HotFM.
Fresh from a sacking from Umno and an election defeat, Khairy appeared in the “Bekpes Hot” segment along with fellow hosts Johan Raja Lawak and Muhammad Selamat.
During the show, Khairy spoke about being booted from his party and losing the federal election in Selangor.
He was formerly the Rembau MP but was not picked by Umno to defend the seat. Instead, he was the party candidate for the Sungai Buloh seat.
Khairy was the favourite to win the election but he was instead trounced by Pakatan Harapan greenhorn R. Ramanan.
“I thought (I would win) because when I was campaigning, a lot of people asked to take a selfie with me. But I lost. I won at selfies but lost at getting votes.
“After the loss in November, I didn’t know what to do. I got jammed thinking about my future,” he said on the programme today.
Khairy is on air on weekdays, 6am to 10am.
He was sacked from Umno on January 28 for making disparaging remarks about the party leadership during the November election campaign.
Since then, Perikatan Nasional has attempted to woo Khairy with offers of a seat to stand for in Selangor or Negri Sembilan in the state elections and the menteri besar’s position if the coalition wins the state. – February 15, 2023.
