HAMZAH Zainudin wants Putrajaya to stop what he terms a “witch hunt” against the opposition.
The opposition leader said the government’s intention to create unity among the people must be driven by sincerity and wisdom.
He stressed that such efforts should not bear ill-will towards those who criticise the administration.
“Unfortunately, the witch-hunting under the current government against their political opponents has not ended.
“So many allegations and baseless slander were thrown.
“God-willing, we will continue to criticise and give our input responsibly and at the same time will give our support to the good proposals under the administration of the 10th prime minister,’ he said today.
He did not state, however, any instance where opposition lawmakers had been victimised by the current government.
Hamzah said the Agong’s message during the royal address should be heeded by everyone regardless of their political affiliation.
The Larut lawmaker said the king’s decree that a stable nation could only be attained through cooperation between government and opposition was something that all members of parliament agreed on.
He added that it was up to Putrajaya to build the public’s trust in how it ran the country.
Hamzah said the opposition would play its part to ensure Malaysia remained on the right track towards unity and stability. – February 14, 2023.
