ONE more person involved in the Genting Highlands crash on Wednesday has died of her injuries, raising the death toll to eight, according to police.
Pahang police chief Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the eighth victim was identified as Chew Chong Beh, 73, who was receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) but died at 1.46pm yesterday.
He said four people are still receiving treatment at HKL and one at Temerloh Hospital, while another has been discharged.
“As of 6pm today, eight people are confirmed to have died and Pahang police offer our condolences to their families,” he said in a statement last night.
The incident happened at about 1.15pm on Wednesday at KM4.8 on Jalan Genting Highlands near Bentong, when a minibus carrying 14 people was on its way down from the mountain resort and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then slammed into a road divider. – Bernama, February 11, 2023.
