MUDA will ramp up its presence on social media to woo Undi18 voters as the youth party prepares to do battle in six state elections.

Its secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi said the party has stepped up engagement with young people after the November general election.

He said Muda representatives have been visiting universities across Malaysia to create awareness and garner support.

“We have already started planning for the polls. We hope to use our members and volunteers as our agents on social media as we are not rich like other parties.

“We also want to counter the negative narratives that are played up by PN (Perikatan Nasional),” he told The Malaysian Insight

“We are planning to go to all the major universities in the country. So far we have gone to about five universities.

Terengganu, along with Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, and Penang, must hold elections by September.

Following the general election, Barisan Nasional and PH formed a unity government in the face of a hung parliament.

BN and PH have since also formed coalition governments in Perak and Pahang.

Amir said the party is in the final stages of preparations for the state polls.

“As we are part of the government we will continue to support it.

“So going into the state elections, we will have to come together and negotiate with our partners on seats and states. We will reveal all soon.

“For now, what is confirmed is that Muda will be contesting in the state polls.”

Muda made its electoral debut last year, winning the Puteri Wangsa seat in Johor by 7,114 votes.
