THE government had approved all Covid-19 vaccine procurements, and this was even confirmed by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that looked into the matter, said ex-health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a statement given to The Star today, he confirmed that the views of all government agencies had been taken into consideration.

“All vaccine procurement was made with approval from the cabinet and the treasury, taking into account views from all agencies.

“The procurement was proper. This was confirmed by the PAC which investigated the matter,” he said.

Khairy added that he was confident of being able to answer any question raised by the tabling of the white paper in the coming parliamentary sitting.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the vaccine procurements had not gone through due process.

He added that the findings would be revealed in the white paper.

Dr Adham Baba was the then health minister from 2020 until August 2021. After that, Khairy took over the role and held it until the last general election. – February 8, 2023.
