MALAYSIA logged 184 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing total infections since the onset of the pandemic to 5,038,354. 

Two deaths were reported, both in Johor, which took the national death toll to 36,946. 

Of the new infections, Selangor posted 52 cases, Kuala Lumpur (41), Malacca (28), Sarawak (9), Sabah (8), Kedah (7), Negri Sembilan (7), Johor (6), Putrajaya (6), Kedah (5), Perak (5), Pahang (4), Penang (3) and Terengganu (3). 

Perlis and Labuan did not report any new cases. 

Active cases dropped to 9,982 as 253 patients recovered from the illness. 

Among the active infections, 9,621 people (96.4%) were in home quarantine and 361 (3.6%) in hospital.

Four patients were in intensive care, all of them requiring respiratory support. – February 8, 2023.
