Former DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz dies


Former DAP vice-chairman and Transparency International Malaysia co-founder Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim has died at the age of 89. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, February 7, 2023.

Former senator and Transparency International Malaysia co-founder Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim died this afternoon. 

He was 89. 

The death of the former DAP vice-chairman was confirmed by his nephew, Tengku Azman Tengku Zainal Abidin, in an Instagram post. 

Tunku Aziz shot to prominence in public life with his activism against graft, helping to found Transparency International Malaysia in 1998. 

He was the voice of the anti-corruption watchdog until October 2002. 

Tunku Aziz served as a special adviser to the then United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan from 2006 to 2007. 

He joined DAP in 2008 and quit the party in 2012 over opposition to some of its policies. – February 7, 2023.
