8 cops held over Tawau murder remanded a further 7 days

THE remand period of eight policemen, including four senior officers, held in connection with the murder of an e-hailing driver in Tawau on January 13, has been extended by seven days from tomorrow.

Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus allowed the extension in remand proceedings at the Tawau police headquarters today.

Yesterday, Sabah police commissioner Idris Abdullah was reported as saying the murder was motivated by jealousy and did not involve security issues in Sabah.

He said the wife of the deceased was charged at the Tawau magistrate’s court under section 302 of the penal code.

On January 30, Nurima Juli, 33, was charged with killing Nurman Bakaratu, 61, in an oil palm plantation near Jalan Anjur Juara, Jalan Apas, Batu 5, Tawau, between 7.30pm and 9pm on January 13. – Bernama, February 1, 2023.
