STRUCTURAL damage to the Klang Valley’s light rail transit (LRT) Sri Petaling line near Bandaraya station this morning has resulted in ongoing delays, according to operator Rapid Rail.
In Facebook post this morning, the operator said service was suspended on the grounds of safety after kinks were found in the track, which it blamed on nearby construction work.
“Rapid Rail, along with structural experts, is in the area to assess and ensure the safety and strength of the structure.
“We decided to close the route between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations until safety and stability can be ensured.
The statement added that trains on the Ampang line are running, albeit slowly, with a delay of nine minutes in the central business district and 18 minutes elsewhere.
“Trains from Putra Heights will turn back at Plaza Rakyat, while trains from Sentul Timur will turn back at Bandaraya,” the company said, adding that shuttle bus services were operating between Plaza Rakyat and Bandaraya.
Rapid Rail also said auxiliary police have been deployed to stations to assist. – January 27, 2023.
